Job Title: Human Resources Specialist (Part-time)

Salary: $28 to $34 hourly, depending on experience

Schedule: 12 to 16 hours weekly with opportunity to expand
Seeking Human Resources Specialist to support a growing agency, managing day-to-day HR functions, ensuring compliance with federal, New York State, and local employment laws, and serving as a trusted resource for employees and leadership. The ideal candidate is organized, knowledgeable, and comfortable working independently in a confidential, employee-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage new hire onboarding, orientation, employee documentation, personnel files, and accurate employee records.
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace matters.
- Coordinate HR compliance, including employment laws, required trainings, workplace postings, policy updates, benefits administration, open enrollment, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and employment verifications.
- Partner with Paychex on payroll administration, employee changes, HR reporting, and employee record maintenance, while recommending process improvements to support organizational growth.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, including experience working independently; bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and New York State employment laws, HR best practices, employee relations, leave administration, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Paychex or another HRIS/payroll system preferred, with strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and confidentiality skills.
- Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, nonprofit, human services, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.
