Job Description
Job Title: Entry-Level Staff Accountant
Location: Goshen, NY
Salary: $25 to $27 hourly
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, billing, deposits, general ledger activity, and financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, accuracy, and organizational skills who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including receiving and posting customer payments and processing carrier payments when applicable.
- Manage daily deposits, bank transactions, agency billing, invoices, and direct bill commission postings.
- Prepare financial reports and accounting statements, review reports for accuracy, and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Allocate expenditures to appropriate accounts while maintaining accurate records and responding professionally to accounting-related correspondence and inquiries.
Qualifications
- Accounting or business degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of Microsoft Excel experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures; experience with accounting software and spreadsheets preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
