Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Middletown, NY
Salary: $100,000 to $110,000 annually

Seeking experienced CFO to serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This role oversees the organization’s financial operations, government grant management, compliance, budgeting, reporting, audits, and internal controls while working closely with leadership, the Board of Directors, funders, and auditors.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors, including budgeting, forecasting, sustainability planning, risk management, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of federal, state, local, and private grants and contracts, including budgeting, invoicing, tracking, reporting, indirect cost allocation, and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Lead audit preparation and act as the primary liaison with auditors, including annual financial audits and Single Audit requirements, while maintaining strong internal controls and safeguarding organizational assets.
  • Manage finance and accounting operations in coordination with fiscal leadership, support payroll and benefits planning, and evaluate financial systems, processes, and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; CPA, MBA, or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of senior-level financial experience, including significant experience managing government grants, nonprofit fund accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state funding regulations, including 2 CFR 200, Uniform Guidance, grant compliance requirements, and Single Audit/A-133 audit processes.
  • Proven leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work closely with executive leadership, board members, program leaders, funders, auditors, and internal teams.
